Polyethylene(HDPE)

Polyethylene(HDPE)

Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer obtained by polymerization of ethylene monomer. Polyethylene, which is formed as a result of the polymerization of ethylene gas with the help of a catalyst under high pressure and temperature, has a wide industrial application area. There are different types of polyethylene; one of them is HDPE or high density polyethylene.

HDPE is a type of higher density polyethylene. HDPE polymerizes in a high-pressure reactor, unlike polyethylene, which polymerizes at low pressure. This process creates smaller, more ordered polymer chains, allowing the material to have a higher density. The properties of HDPE are:

High Density: HDPE has a higher density than other types of polyethylene, resulting in a stronger and more durable material.

Excellent Chemical Resistance: HDPE is resistant to many chemicals. It is used in various industrial applications due to its resistance to acids, alkali and other chemicals.

Low Absorption Rate: HDPE does not tend to absorb water and other liquids, making it more resistant to degradation when in contact with water.

Flexibility and Durability: HDPE maintains its flexibility even at low temperatures and is resistant to various environmental conditions.

Food Safety: HDPE is a safe material used in applications such as food packaging.

These properties of HDPE enable it to be used in a variety of applications, such as water pipes, plastic bottles, toys, containers, packaging materials and many industrial products.
